10,000 hours

    That's very do-able.

    As for myself, I'm trying to get in 2 15-30 minute practices a day. Learning to read the "bugs". I don't want to be just a by-ear player that'd be too easy and it'd be a trap. Just like when I learned how to drive, I made sure to learn on a stick shift (for those readers not in the US, almost no one drives a stick in the US).

    It didn't take Mozart 10,000 hours to learn to play whatever keyed instruments he played-harpsichord, clavichord etc.:-)
