For sale, my remarkable '49 Martin Committee. Serial #147xxx. This may be the most incredible horn I've owned over the years. There's simply nothing wrong with it, and nothing it cannot do: dark/smokey, sizzling lead, resonant, strong, vulnerable... sounds strange to attribute these to a horn, but in this case, it's applicable. This is the #2 bore, .453, reverse pipe which makes it a nice, open blow if you're unfamiliar. The valves... the VALVES! They're original and nearly pristine. I get no blowback, and yes, the horn slots! Leadpipe is rot free, clean as can be with barely a mark inside. One very tiny patch where the bell meets the valves, virtually unnoticeable. One small dent at the top of the bell crook, minor fix. Mother of pearl valve buttons. Engraving is crisp.

The horn vibrates, like a well-balanced, well-made horn should. The scale is remarkable. Right on the money and you barely have to bother with the third valve slide. Blow how you want, and she responds. These late 40s, early 50s Committees are everything everyone's said they are, from Chet to Miles. But alas, kid's off to college next year and time to reduce me Brass Pack.

Will include a lovely Gladstone case, minor marks on the top, all black with leather handles and combination locks. PayPal only, or cash locally in Los Angeles, add 75 for insured shipping to CONUS only. More pics on demand. Martin 2.jpg
