1st and 3rd slides during technical studies

    LEAVE YOUR THIRD VALVE SLIDE OUT BELOW THE STAFF FROM LOW A TO D. This works because between low A and D, the only two notes that require the third valve are D and C#, both of whic are flat. You don't have to go in and out all the time. Recognize what you're playing, and it might be possible to leave your third slide hanging out for ages without making other notes flat

    Uhh, it always seemed to me that using our slides is a part of technique, so that makes it a part of our technical training.
