Apparently the lacquer got messed up when they were cleaning it, so they decided to re-lacquer.

But I think that's the nicest 28B I've ever seen - usually they're all beat up like crushed tin cans - people seemed to play their 28Bs to death.

Hmm, a shop that didn't think an ultrasonic cleaning couldn't hurt the lacquer?? Dent and patch on the tuning slide going into third valve?? Not a closet queen in my opinion. I would want the original case and not the crappy plastic case, regardless of the smell. Doesn't smell right to me.

Looks pretty good. But why doesn't he show the other side of the horn? Wonder what the serial number is?

I bought this exact model Constellation brand new in 1954 and played it for 12 years during the 50s and 60s. A fantastic horn with a great sound. I forgot what I paid for it at the time, I just know it seemed like a small fortune and took me months to pay off. But I loved that horn and wish I hadn't sold it in '65.

Maybe this is your chance, man?

Ends on Sunday night. Only one bid so far...

Yeah, but it's bad timing for me. I recently picked up a 1952 Selmer Paris. So no money for toys for awhile now.

Speaking of closet queens, I just picked up a 1966 Holton Laureate cornet that looks almost new. Story is, it came from an attic in Iowa, was sold on Craigslist, and then put up for auction on eBay. I'd say that its recent journey will stop at my house, at least for a few years...:-)
