Happy Birthday, Doc Severinsen. And he's still got it !!!!
He turned 91 yesterday.
I beat you by a few hours We were both late though
Yeah, I realized you had beat me but I had already started this thread so I let it stand. Well, we were both late but at least we acknowledged the man's accomplishment of still playing at 91.
A little bit of Doc from the Trumpet Spectacular album.
Thanks, Tom, Doc's playing is so clean and crisp that listening to it gives me the goosebumps. The man blows magic.
I saw him in concert with the N.C. Symphony back in the late '80s. He played a couple classical solo pieces with the orchestra in the first half of the concert, and the entire second half was just Doc with his jazz combo. My (and my wife's)seats were literally about 10' from him. Pretty awesome...
I play in three bands where the majority of the members are seniors. Some have even passed.
Music knows no age! And once it’s in us the rest of our lives seem to be centered around it.
Just like the guys I work with in the construction field that are pushing 80 (I honestly know 3) this is why we live!
All of us have a craft and this man buckled in and took the ride!
Doc is tops!!
I’m not sure if he has a connection with the “Nati” but he is a house hold name around these parts, and that is something
