Hey guys, I recently had the chance to make a deal.

One of my buddies is willing to trade his Schilke m2 for my getzen 700 and yamaha student. What do you think? It sounds pretty cool to me. Especially the fact it's a schilke. I know the m2s and 1s were intermediate horns, but it could be a good deal....

A Schilke for a Getzen? That sound like an incredible deal, you'd be crazy to pass it up. Schilke's a incredible trumpet, and Getzen's... well.... they're definitely not for me...

I'm with you man, I mean, getzens are sooo small built. I mean, my hands are cramped just holding the horn. But that's just me. Some people just don't like the schilke m's. But a schilke is a schilke.

The Schilke M2 is an intermediate horn. Not anywhere near the pro level horns they made. They don't make them anymore, and they have relatively low resale values.

    Hold on there!!

Read the post above this one.

The M series is NOT a pro line horn.

And you're giving up a Getzen AND a Yamaha?

    Be careful.

I would listen to SB and Breke. One of the 2 horns for the Schilke MII may be a good deal (depending on how the Schilke plays compared to the horn to trade) but both doesn't seem like a deal I would like to have...

If your Getzen 700 is an Eterna and not an Eterna II you have and entry level pro trumpet. If that is the case I would stay with the Getzen. I love mine!

    This.

If you're buying it because you want to see/feel why Schilke's are so well regarded, the M2 wouldn't be the horn to get. In my opinion it doesn't really represent what Schilke's are about in terms of sound, blow, and quality.

You're simply getting a well-built intermediate horn. Nothing special at all about them.
