    Hi Arcanemarge,
With reading troubles, firstly get your eyes checked.

I have astigmatism which I have had all my life, and not picked up at all until 40. It slowed down my reading, reading the same line, blurred around the area outside of the word you're reading. Go to an optomitrist to be sure..

Playing and reading are connected, but in reality you can play well, and still have reading difficulties....so follow the advice given, and keep playing nice musical notes.
    Cheers

Have you ever seen Adolph Herseth play a long loud passage? His face would turn red as a tomato! Frankly, I wouldn't worry about turning red once in a while.

    As to multiple tonguing...

As with everything else trumpet... All it takes is practice - patient, introspective practice, and lots of it! Kepp up the work and study with a thoughtful caring teacher. You'll be fine.

    Peace!

    Nick

I agree with dhbailey that you shouldn't be double tonguing yet but if you want to, the way to say it is "Ta-ka"
