My question is probably the dumbest ever posted on this forum, but wtf does "adjustable slide (ring)" mean? ADJUSTABLE?!?!?

    Re: Adjustable? WTF?

WAG: one whose position fore and aft can be adjusted, usually by use of a screw with a knurled head which can be turned with only fingers. The alternative is a ring soldered or glued in place. Not a BFD either way unless your hand size is drastically different from "average".

I disagree Artemisia. There's been WAY dumber posts than this one.

    Re: Adjustable? WTF?

I've found this "adjustable" thing on the Getzen site ... there are the trumpets with this "adjustable" third ring slide and then there are others where it only says "third ring slide" - so I wondered wtf the difference might be.

Btw, has anybody here any experience with Getzen trumpets? ;)

    Re: Adjustable? WTF?

My Old's Ambassador has an adjustable slide ring. This is a horn I got in 5th grade, and at the time I had to have it extended almost as far back as it would go. It's likely a feature for student model horns to accommodate smaller hands? That's my guess, I am sure someone better informed can confirm/deny that hypothesis.

I believe it there is a saying stating "he who does not ask is dumb forever, he who asks is dumb for minute"
