My favorite watching... I mean listening experience yet.
Alison Balsom - Italian Concertos - YouTube
My wife allowed me to see Alison in concert when she came to Charlotte. I got to meet her and have her sign copies of her CD's. My wife has made it clear that lessons with Alison will not be allowed. She has said that I can study with Arturo as money allows. What gives???!!
lucky for Alison and you guys -- I AM SINGLE -- and by the way, an article that I recently read indicated that Alison has separated from her husband. That is a very sad thing ---and I need to find that other post (I think local357 put up ---"how to write to celebrities") -- Yeah, I could take trumpet lessons with her, and NOT have any problems with that stigma of a woman teaching a man --- MY LIFE IS GOOD
Learning can be fun.
She has a keen musical judgment and figured you're more of a jazz type...
Alison appears to be a single mom now. I guess the odds with pro trumpet players are the same the world around.
As far as her playing goes, there is this church near where she lives - she has the opportunity to practice often in a very nice room.
Here is a link to her equipment:
I can't ever remember her on stage with a Bb. I like the creamy C-sound though.
I agree Robin, her C trumpet work is outstanding ... very pure and lyrical
Her Bach work is my favorite
What's the big deal? Are decent looking women or decent trumpet players in short supply in England?
I don't get all the accolades.
No, but a combination of the two definitely are.
