    It's a gift.

So what to do. If you don not have GERD or peptic ulcer disease, I recommend Aleve two 200 mg pills twice a day and do this every day without missing a day for about 6 weeks. Also Moist heat and massage of masticatory muscles will benefit. Keep your trumpet exercises down to a comfortable range, and hold of on more technically demanding pieces for at least 2 weeks, until you hear your sound returning, and then, only build gradually over the next couple of weeks to your usual work out routine.

I read this post last night and have been scratching my head ever since. On the off chance it may be something mechanical, rather than physical, I'd start by checking the horn over for anything even a little bit loose, like valve caps, water key screws, finger buttons, valve stems; maybe even a worn valve guide, or a cracked solder joint. Good luck solving this enigma!
