I have to brag on my son. Today for his Solo and Ensemble competition, my son played the first movement of Barat's Andante et Scherzo. The look on the judge's face when he handed her the piece was great. When he nailed the sextuplet whole tone scale and the high B natural her jaw about dropped to the floor. I'm very proud of him. To be able to play that piece in seventh grade is amazing to me. I don't know that I could play it as well as he did.

Mark, congratulation to your son!!!! Perhaps he can give you a few lessons? AND maybe he should be sitting in for me with the Quintet the next time he comes 'round to the Blue Wisp.

By the way, was this the OSMA? Brings back a lot of memories for me back in my days of being in private school in Cincinnati.

Thanks Gary. No, we're on the right side of the "Ohio" river in KY.

That explains a lot. He has the advantage with being barefoot and all, can likely feel the rhythm better through the floorboards.
