I recently listened to the second movement of the Haydn Concerto in the
Great Performances Haydn-Hummel-L.Mozart Trumpet Concertos by Wynton Marsalis and noticed that at the D (0:28 on the recording) he kind of "split tounges" it.

It sounds as if he's shortly flutter tounging the D...

    Anyone have an idea?

I don't know if I'm listening to same version as you, Trumpet Concertos by Wynton Marsalis on Grooveshark. The second movement, he isn't even playing at 0:28, and definitely no split note.

It's the third note he plays. You'll know what i'm talking about once you hear it if you hear it.

    It's at 0:31.
