Folks, I was recently asked to write a couple of articles for a new trumpet web site.

The web site is managed by trumpeter, Greg Zent. It is called Bethany Brass. Here's the link:

    Welcome to Bethany Brass

I've submitted two articles. The first one, title "Never Yield To Discouragement" is already up. I have another in the works about picking day gigs, but that is in the fnal editing stages. I hope Greg will OK it and post it soon.

Drop by and check it out.

    Peace!

    Good article Nick!

Greg Zent is a good guy and will do well with that site.

Good to see the "Good Guys" doing somthing.

You guys here may remember Greg, he builds trumpets called Forza and does a great job.

He sent one of his horns on a tour a while back. I had it for a week and it was a great horn.

Re: Bethany Brass - Day Gig: The Musician's Challenge

My second article was posted at Bethany Brass. The title of this article is "Day Gig: The Musicians Challenge." Many young musicians have to fact this and I wanted to write an article to offer some insight as to how to deal with this. I particularly don't want younger musicians to somehow feel that they are failures if they need to get a day gig! I say this for two reasons. One I HAVE A DAY GIG and I don't consider myself a failure! I also have a son majoring in jazz piano and doing VERY well, but HE might have to face this as he gets ready to embark on his career.

Check it out. I hope there is something there that can help some folks.

By the way, one of the greatest American composers of the 20th century had a day gig! Charles Ives is still remembered today fo his iconoclastic works, yet he was an insurance man/actuary! We're all individuals and we have to find our own balance!

Many thanks to Nick for his contributions!

I keep expanding the content of Bethany Brass a couple times a week.

My next addition will be to add a video section.

If you have a couple of favorite trumpet performances that you have found on the web please send me the links.

Here is an example of what I am looking for:

James Morrison Bill Watrous The Flintstones

    Thanks,

    Greg

    Hey guys:

I have collected links to every online reference I could find that relates to the science of how a trumpet actually works.

Here's the link on my web site:

    Chuck,

Thanks! I wish I had the time to compile all linked info into one comprehensive
set of pages on my web site. Maybe some day if I win the lottery!

    Thanks.
I tried to spend a few hours on it a week, so it is progressing quite nicely.
