Don't worry about the Carnival of Venice remark. We usually take care of the pin heads.
Don't tell me you're going to make me listen to your Danny Davis records!
This could prove to be inspiring
Don't know if you've seen this: Makes us old guys just want to give up.
5-Year Old Trumpet Player
No, we're going to tape you playing, put it on an endless loop and lock you in a room with it playing forever!
That would about do it!
Whew..You guys are rough.
Are you sure he is not an 18yo with a height deficiency??
Re: This could prove to be inspiring
We have decided we will rent a coronet for a few months to see if he can hold it better. He learned the proper hold today and is doing pretty darn well considering the trumpet is more than half of his entire height. We have been supporting the end with a chair here recently to help avoid the slumping over he was doing.
I didn't even think about the quicktime issue. We reposted to youtube. I will post that link.
Thanks! Seeing Geoffrey was part of what made us decide to invest in the trumpet. Everyone we had talked to told us to wait and then finally one person told us about Geoffrey and that it is possible for a young child to play. My son watched the Today show clip where he performs with Chris Botti the other day. Geoffrey mentions that people think he is a prodigy, but he just practices an hour a day (this was at five years old). As soon as my son heard that he went and got his trumpet out and told me he had to practice for an hour!
I am not sure about embedding youtube video, hopefully this will work.
This is the same video from my initial post, recorded when he had the trumpet for only about 2 weeks.
YouTube - the tornado
OK - The video worked. Great job. Sounds like you have a real budding musician. Good luck to all of you. Keep us posted.
