Just wondering if there was anybody on the list with a Kanstul Flugelbone.

I like the one I've got, but it seems that it's got a problem with moisture hiding in the horn. The three spit valves are not doing the trick.

I'd hate to have to rotate the thing like a french horn player. That's always looked like a dweeb thing to do. But that may be the only way to get it out.

Try removing the relevant tuning slide - that provides me with a quick drain. I have noticed with mine that until it (and me) have warmed up the flugelbone does seem to condense moisture much more so needs the spit valves operating every few minutes. I guess this is just a hazard of a brass instrument with lots of bends and length.
