For those who have experimented playing through amps. Can you share what you've discovered: what amp do you like? what size speaker do you recommend for trumpet? And anything you can offer to this query....................crow

My experience is in the ancient world of 70's electronics...but...it was my experience that it wasn't the "speaker" or even the "size" of the speaker in the amp, but the "horn" assemblies for the upper end. We were using 12 or 15" woofers in setups of towers, but I had to build (back then) some units with "horn" tweeters to overcome the "bass-iness" of the woofers. Today, a decent mixer can compensate much better, but you still need a frequency response in the unit to properly "present" all the harmonics of the trumpet.
