Hi, Arturo is playing with his sextet in Trondheim, Norway 4th of june.
I'm a big fan, but I did not like his last LIVE DVD! Have someone heard him with his sextet recently? Is it worth it for me to take a eight hour drive to see him? He hasn't been i Norway for 15 years I think.

I saw him in Winnipeg about 5 years ago. He was just a solo at that time. He displayed remarkable range with different horns and mouthpieces but little else.
    Just my $.02 worth/

Isn't Tine Thing Helseth From Norway? Have you had a chance to see her????
It's great seeing Arturo live, If you're lucky he'll do his "trumpet scat" is unbelievable!

And he walks up to these congas like he's never seen drums before, and slams 'em w/ a stick and shrugs.....then reaches back for his Flip Oaks Wild Thing. Great sense of humor..

Well, he does play congas, and last I saw, he was playing a's been a while; Musicians change throughout their career, as the years go by.

To drive 8 hours depends on the venue, and your seat.

I'll be meeting him May 5th at Anthology Jazz Club here in San Diego. He has purchased my book and I'll be giving him a hard copy that evening.

Wow, congratulation man..:-) Arturo is the man, for sure!! Come back to me, and let me know what his sextet is playing these days..:-)

I have all his DVD's, so I have seen his scat show! (..scat, bad pictures in my head..) I think he is amazing! I do the 8 hour drive..:-)

I have seen Tine several times, she is amazing to. It's looks like shes not playing at all! She lives 20 minutes from my place, so I know her playing well...

I think i would travel 8 hours to see Arturo in action. In Europe, chances to see musicians like Arturo can be quite rare. Mind, you i would demand an autograph and picture for that level of dedication!

Sure, I want to try, but I think thats impossible! 1250 trumpetplayers will be there I think..:-) And I have heard that he is a grumphy old man, so I dont want to ruin my "relationship" to him..;-) I just hope he play the best gig he have ever played that night!!!
