How do you know you've been hacked? (TM account I presume) Did the TM admins tell you, or something else?

TM has been intermittently unavailable to me over the last day, I wondered if there is something wrong.

I got the following email from Trumpetmaster:

    Dear dangeorges,

Someone has tried to log into your account on TrumpetMaster with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 89.105.194.88

    All the best,
    TrumpetMaster

I've also had trouble over the last couple of day accessing the site. No emails like that though

The email actually appeared to be sent via the indiana gun owners domain (ingunowners.com), which has private ownership through domainsby proxy, which is similar to the registration info for trumpetmaster.com.
Possibly trumpetmaster sends email through ingunowners.com, but unlikely. Looks like some sort of phishing scam or something like it.

This happened a few years ago as well (back in 2012) -

Thanks for that -- and I just gave it a go myself to compare, had myself locked out for 15 minutes or so, and got a similar e-mail, also sent from a ingunowners.com mail account. This isn't that unusual I believe. I wonder are robots at work rather than individual hackers? (Okay, the robots have to be directed.) A lucky hit in 5 guesses is pretty unlikely, but if you can do that for a large portion of members of a site like TM then the chances that one of the five passwords being tried matches that for one of the members is that bit higher (though hopefully still unlikely).

My robots...should they ever appear...would have far more profitable things to do than try to hack TRUMPETMASTER.COM clients...
    Like, serving me latte~.
