I have an Audition coming up and I need to play two pieces. One should show off my high register (Goes up to a high D, maybe a note or two Higher), and the other should show off my expressive playing. Any suggestions?

Rustiques by Eugene Bozza is a great audition piece, check it out! Being to the point about it, the opening cadenza shows almost everything to trumpet playing! From a lyrical opening motif, to some multiple tonguing, wide intervals, register changes and range (to a high C). The rest of the piece displays mute playing, lyrical playing, some more cadenza work and changing of styles with an option high D. The other piece I would suggest the 1st or third movement of a well known, popular trumpet concerto such as Hummel, Haydn or Neruda.

    Hope this helps!

I believe the first movement of the Haydn goes up to and Eb about High C (if you are playing on a Bb trumpet). I've always liked the 1st movement of the Kennan Sonata.
