Been playing around with a different design for third slide on a Bach Strad.... First reactions are very positive - it opens up the sound a lot (on all notes, not just 3rd valve ones). The sound is still Bach, but much more expansive. The standard slide has too many unsoldered joints and too much bracing.

Water key included on the new design?

Sure. The slide needs a bit of mass at that point so I have mounted a plunger style water key.

Do you have a target prices yet? (I know you're just in the design stage, but a ballpark?)

How long is the third valve slide? Is it three half tones long or fudged a bit?

    Nice work,though!

Thanks VG. The slide is exactly the same length as the original, three half-tones. The extension rod just enables either the original slide or this new version to be thrown out further to get an extra half tone.
