How do you do it? I have a written solo for Perdido in my jazz class and there's a couple "ghost" notes, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to play them. How do you block tongue? At least, I think that's what they call the tonguing when the attack is dull and sloppy for the desired effect.

You don't play the ghosted notes but you feel them. That way they are just implied and felt. The feeling is like you swallow them.
