    Hi All,

Here is a letter from ITG Publications Editor (Journal) Gary Mortenson. Through ITG, TPIN, Trumpet Herald, Trumpet Master and word of mouth we are raising money to buy them a new picc. See the following posting if you can give to this cause.

    Thanks!

    =============================
    Dear Trumpet Community:

For two years now, I have had a special relationship with Brandt
Brass, from Saratov, Russia. I first met them during the summer of
2004 in Lichtenberg, Germany at the Haus Marteau Workshop for Brass.
It was a great pleasure for me to recommend them to Joseph Bowman as
a group to be featured on the 2005 ITG Conference, and if any of you
were in Bangkok and caught that memorable concert you know what a
special treat it was for ITG to host this group.

These wonderful musicians (a 12 piece large brass ensemble with four
trumpet players) do not have many resources, and they collectively do
not own a piccolo trumpet. When they play they have to borrow one
from another city. They make due with what they have, but in this
case, they don't have a piccolo at all. These are all top-flight
professional level players who work three and four jobs in Saratov
and make under $100 a month doing ALL those jobs. It is sad, but they
are NOT complainers, indeed they all LOVE their craft, love to make
music, and they are full of life. I truly treasure my relationship
    with them.

They have scrapped together a few hundred dollars (contact me if you
want their price range)... trust me, this is a lot of money for them
to come up with, and they have asked me to see if anyone out there
might be willing to sell a used piccolo to them knowing that it will
find a great home with a fabulous professional-level ensemble. This
instrument would be played all over Russia, and would be used in
countless performances. They would take VERY good care of it. Stephen
Chenette, the immediate past president of ITG has offered to get the
instrument to them personally as he will be visiting Russia in the
    next few months.

My thanks to all of you for any help you might offer.

    Very Truly Yours,
    Gary Mortenson
