He is an iconic player, but he does use the hand wobble to produce vibrato. I can't find the YT video I was watching where it was even more apparent. If I can, I'll post it here.

I disagree about your definition of vibrato. It 'finishes off' a note especially for a British cornet sound, but it is also very prevalent in many other genres. Vibrato is to do with style, not disguising out-of-tune playing.

    Have you ever heard Enka?

Well, I can appreciate how a retarded old trumpet player's ability might be something a sax player aspires to...

Vibrato can be fine but playing without and in tune is more difficult than playing with, that's my point of view.
But you're right, sometimes, it belongs to a style.

Without vibrato it would sound strange.

As a cornet player, I learned to play with vibrato and in tune. Not a problem. Trumpet players have no problem with it that I can see or hear. I think you are barking up the wrong tree here. Go and post this crap on a sax forum!

With the greatest respect, of course.

ROFL Hey ! People will think we are fighting again ! But we have never done it ?
British cornet is an institution, I know it.
I don't know if you are British or French but you've got a good sense of humour.
And, I don't really want to play like this guy although I think he may play better than I pretend, he's just laughing at us, I hope so.
His videos are sometimes less stupid than we think... Am I exagerating ?
