I've played and sold a few Conn Coprions on eBay. The 17B, 18B, and 12B. Both the 17B and 18B are Director models meaning they are a little better than beginner student models in my opinion. The pure copper bells make them a step above student grade. Now......the 12B is a professional model with the coprion bell ( it was built on the 22B frame and coprion bell added ). So the 12B is a Conn New York Symphony(22B) with the copper ion(coprion) 99.9% pure copper ( through Conn's copper plating process ) bell. The older 22B ( not the newer student 22B ! ) is a great pro trumpet with a .438" bore (I think) that a lot of big band trumpet sections like Tommy Dorsey's band used. Now take the pro 22B and put on the Coprion Bell and you have the 12B ! A 17B or 18B is worth about $175. The 12B is worth between $500 and $600. I highly recommend the 12B.

Ditto for the 10B. The early version that I have is a pro 22B with a Coprion bell. It is said that it also shares similarities with the Connstellation 38B (the 10B has the large bell) ...... Sort of like, it's mother was a 22B, it's father, a Connstellation ..... I'm calling her Stella. She's coming home today with her slides unstuck.

I used to own a 38B Connstellation and this one sounds a lot like that one, but has a more open blow. It has a narrower wrap, like a 22B (the later 10B was wider). Nice loud trumpet.

Bid high enough and you get every horn you want. How much of the rest of your life goes into the gutter (or the dumpster or even the toilet), depends on the bank account.

I guess I wouldn't necessarily get hung up on the Coprion thing. There is a very active trade in old Conns on EBay as you are no doubt aware. Trust Christine Dirksen's recommendations on the Conn Loyalist site. Good info there. The other old Conns are fabulous as well. I love to get out the 58B peashooter I still have, and playing on the 22B is a joy.
