hey, i have seen this many times on many different peoples trumpets and i have no idea what it possibly is. i was wondering if anyone on here knows what it is or what its used for. Its right under the mouthpiece on the leadpipe. You can see the close up of it at 1:30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbBc03RAqKk&feature=related

Berp. It doesn't allow you to buzz like you are playing the trumpet, it is more of a resistance tool and it works quite well. I have one on my leadpipe as well lol.
