Can I use piston oil on rotary valves? I have all types of Hetmans, can i use one?

    Can I use piston oil on rotary valves? I have all types of Hetmans, can i use one?

    No problem, I use Ultra Pure on the rotors of my Alexander French horn without issue.

    Hetman #12 is rotary oil. It is thicker than the valve oil, but not too thick. I use it on all the French Horns I work on.

    If you really have to use Hetmans - #12 is the choice. But there is a very good rotary oil by Tom Crown which is only about half the price of the Hetmans, and does not coagulate so fast.
    But in principle any oil should do. For my Ganter Bb rotary, I actually use Singer sewing machine oil - only one that reduces valve noise.
