That's where the Joker stood a pencil on it's end and called the bad guy over and slammed his head onto it, making the pencil disappear.

Eric Bolvin has a video on Youtube. Search for "pencil exercise".
Glad I'm not the only one who thought of this when I saw the topic title.
But to answer your question, what you do is you hold a pencil between your lips (not your teeth) and try to hold it as close to parallel to the floor as you can using just your lips for about thirty seconds or a minute or so. Take it out, rest for a little while, and repeat twice at most. The important thing is to not overdo it.
There are videos on Youtube that can explain this much better than I can.
So what is it?
A Pencil TRICK? or a Pencil Excerise?
and is it any better then buzzing on a mouth piece?

Pencil exercises are like religion, some people say they work, some don't.
Here's a good video by Nick Drozdoff that I would suggest over any pencil 'tricks'.
YouTube - Embouchure Design Revisited
The pencil exercise works great for building muscles when you can't practice, for example driving down the road. Also, alternating an exaggerated pucker and flat smile helps. They don't take the place of practicing, they just help muscle tone.
To do the pencil trick correctly , form your embouchure, insert pencil while drinking a glass of water, while your puppet recites the alphabet ,while you pull a rabbit out your hat.
