I need to find a recording for the GMEA all-state trumpet etude for this year. It's located on the GMEA website. If anyone could make a recording of this and upload it it would be awesome!

I agree with jarby. If you want to be all-state and are truly all-state material you should be able to puzzle the etude out yourself!

Which etude are you on about?
I recorded one of them but it may not be the right one (it was the first trumpet etude I found).

Not to hijack the thread, but comments/advice etc on my recording would be nice.

Except for a small mistake in measure 40, you did fine :-)

    Ah you are right!
I did the rhythm wrong, thank you for picking up on that. :-)

I've found two more etudes so currently I'm recording the 9-10 one.

Which one is the OP wanting??

The Middle School (6-8) one (recorded by "cantplaytrumpet") : http://www.gmea.org.php53-10.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/MSTptEtude14.pdf
    The "Concert Band" (9-10 level) : http://www.gmea.org.php53-10.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/CBTptEtude14.pdf
    The "Symphonic Band" (11-12 level) : http://www.gmea.org.php53-10.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/SBTpEtude14.pdf

    "Can't Play":
Your recording sounds very "note-y"... like you are trying to really play all the notes right, but at the expense of the musicality in the piece... the opening line starts piano, then mp, then more... it builds then tapers. At an all-state level most kids will get all the notes right. The ones that win will play with great musicality in the phrasing, intonation, and dynamics.
I'd say go back for a 2nd look and forget about the right notes for now and focus on the musical shape of the piece. With enough reps all the right notes will get there.

I would record how I am doing, but I only have the crappy mic on my phone and the quality is always very bad. It's the 11-12 grade etude. Also, I can play through it fairly well, but I know a lot of you are very experienced trumpet players and listening to a very good recording would help a lot.
