    Steve, oleic acid is the main constituent of olive oil, it is a fatty acid. Olive oil is a time honored brass and bronze preservative, and a weekly wipe with it will keep brass shining for a long time. The kaolin is purified clay, not much of an abrasive, and is added because it removes tarnish along with the ammonia by chemical reaction.

    Wow! The before and after is impressive. I need to try something on my silver Olds. She hasn't looked well for years. In fact, my wife says it's looked pretty sick for years. Aint nothin' to it but to do it...
