changing pitch of notes

    It's probably good for you to play one of these older, lipped down only, open slotted trumpets. Having to constantly mind your intonation really keeps your ears on their toes.

    There is an exercise just for this that's part of Ken Saul's Warmup .... can be downloaded for free from Ultrapure.com. He takes you through a low on the staff exercise where you play first with fingering, just down 1/2 step and back up .... then the same thing without changing fingering, just lipping down. It's not easy to do.
