    Hi Manny,

I must come clean and admit that I am just a lowley fourth year trumpet major at a little ol' university in Canada town, eh. So I openly admit to not hearing much of you or any Orchestra from the States. This being said, I also do not really know who all plays in what orchestras (I know, I know...for shame) :dontknow:

But I have recently been in contact with one Charles Lazarus in regards to lessons and such. (I found out through Chuck Daellenbach that he is the newest addition to the Canadian Brass). I also have heard that Charles has played in the Minnesota Symphony. I was just wondering if you two have played together and if you could give me any info that could help me out in a lesson.

I may be able to arrange a lesosn with Charles in or around Aug. 5 (Canadian Brass concert in Ottawa, ON) but that depends if he has the time. I was told by Chuck that he is a breathing specialist. This works out great because I wanted a "breathing lesson". (Which is why I contacted Chuck).

I was just wondering if you could fill me in on what kind of teacher he is.

    Thanks, Manny

    Dear Eric,

All I know of Chaz's teaching is that he enjoys it but, interestingly, I've never heard him describe himself as a breathing specialist so, I'm sure that's CD's take on him, based on conversations they two must have had on the road.

Of course we've played together since his is not just a 4th trumpet position but a utility position. That means he plays wherever we need him.

    Enjoy your lesson.

    Hey Manny,
Speaking of former memers of the MO, I heard a rumor that Doug Wright may be coming back to Minnesota from Cleveland. I figured you would probably be in the know about such things... If that's true, I think it says a lot about the Minnesota Orchestra. Although given the choice between living in Cleveland or living in Minneapolis, I think I'd take Minneapolis too...

    Jimi,

Yes, Doug is coming back to Minneapolis... while playing with Kari Sundstrom was great, it'll be nice to have the "old gang' together again. Lisa Albrecht has done a terrific job of playing 2nd for Kari while he played 1st.

He told me that he very much enjoyed playing with his colleagues in Cleveland.

I met a former member the other night...Ron Hasselmann. He is a friend of the family of one of my friends (thats not confusing). He seems that a really nice guy and told me if i was ever in the area to see the MO to stop in and get a lesson. So im planing on it over the summer...what show would you reccomend I come up there to see???

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Fish,

I'm not sure what we're playing so, if you go to the MO website they may have summer info and you can figure out what you'd like to see. I know we're playing a lot of Bernstein and Gershwin this summer so, it might be fun. The last week is Ravel Piano Concerto in G and Carmina Banana.

    Fish,

Actually, his wife is the music director of the boy choir that will be performing with us. The name of the group is the Metropolitan Boy Choir.
