Dave and Cathy met Jeanne and me at The Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach ( Chet and Miles 9/13/53 ??? ) and we all traveled to the Santa Monica Pier where Dave and I had to bust out our horns and play a little. Our wives were taking pictures as we acted like kids in a candy store. There were quite a few jazz licks played on the 3 trumpets. Dave played my '49 Committee as I played his Conn "Conncert Grand" . We all had a good time. Dave and Cathy were great hosts ! I hope these pictures post below.

Great pictures Chuck and Dave. You know Chuck, Dayton Ohio can be on the way back to Cary. Dayton Trumpet Hang is this Saturday. More pics with many TM members attending the hang. We may not be as good o lookers like you and Dave, but our horns are pretty!

Nothing like jammin in a parking structure... And scaring ( or delighting) people on the other levels of the structure ;).

    Looks like a hoot.... :)

Btw, how were the acoustics in there? I bet you had an awesome echo.

    Thanx for sharing! :)

We can always say we played a place just off the Santa Monica Pier....we don't know how many were in the audience....but the parking lot was pretty full.
Actually the parking attendants got a kick out of it. Dave had some cool bouncing jazz licks too !

Very good! Reminds me of the time I couldn't play in a hotel room so went down the underground parking garage to play. I had picked up my new (to me) Recording that day and couldn't wait for morning. I'm sure the sound would have carried but funny thing was that the hotel staff just a couple of levels up on the ground floor didn't let on they'd heard anything.

    A caption for the photo

"Nothing to see hear folks...just a couple of horn nerds in a parking lot...please move on " :)

Great photos. The lighthouse...yeah it's got some history. I just felt compelled to play the 33 conn...It's growing on me. Vintage horns seem to be a good value these days.
