My trumpets have a straight leadpipe and are easy to clean, but a cornet has a lead section that bends back 180 degrees. Will the snake bend around that or is there another way?

Depending on the design of the snake, if you push it through from the receiver end, it may hang up where the water key is positioned. If this happens, remove the tuning slide and push it in from that end. It usually will move past the water key more easily because there is less bending force on the snake from that end.
