I will be traveling with a non-musician friend to Turkey and Greece this summer for 3+ weeks on non-trumpet related business. I have missed only a small handful of practice days in the past 4 years. Question: Should I bring my horn or go cold turkey?

    macman,
if you have to ask, then take the horn! We are never sorry when we keep practicing!

3-4 weeks won't of a good vacation won't hurt anyone.
even my teacher that plays at the israel philharmonic says that he's taking a two week vacation from the trumpet every year. I think you have to take some time off from the trumpet once a year at least. but that's just me.

You could just take your mouthpiece a bit of buzzing might be the thing , although three weeks ? ( just take the horn) put your mind at rest.

Take the horn and a practice mute.

I know I couldn't go horn-less for 3 weeks. If you take the horn and don't play, at least you had the chance if you had a sudden craving. If you don't take the horn then really want to play after 3 days, you have to spend another 2 weeks and 4 days trumpet-less.

Well I just want to start by saying, Welcome to TM macman17!

I have to agree with everyone else here, just take anything that can keep you from going off track in those 3+ weeks. Either a trumpet or a even a mouthpiece, or both!
