Corners leaking?

    The leaks will go away with normal playing but playing a lot and allowing yourself rest. What helped me was working with St. Jacome's 2 page etudes, as well as extremely soft long tones for up to 10 minutes (breathing through your nose)... then resting a LOT!

    Maynard used to tell us that if his socks were wet and his lower back hurt, he knew that he had played "correctly"...

    In just a few days I've already seen improvements. I don't think I was practicing structured enough, very sporadic, usually working on music I need to work up and not on fundamentals and strength. It may always be there a bit because of placement, but I can see now that I can get it to the point where it won't bother me so much.

    Thanks for the encouragement, and the tips.

    btw, I can circular breath, but not on a high F or G... that's crazy!

    Too much lip tension will prevent you from being able to circular breathe on higher notes... and will hinder range because it's been "learned" to pinch as you go higher vs. pushing more air.
