    Only that they are so isolated by trade embargoes and such, which would make them at a disadvantage in that respect.

    On the other hand, they are very resourceful because of that, and can make car parts out of almost anything. When was the last new car imported into Cuba?

    The only country I know of that has a trade embargo with Cuba is the U.S. and that only restricts certain items, albeit most. The bigger problem is their economy doesn't position them to be a viable player in world trade. It is only lately that the Cuban citizens can again own real estate there, even though that is still limited.

    A now retired U.S. Marine I know who served at Quantanomo doesn't know more about Cuba than I do ... so he says.
