I started a MAYNARD FERGUSON TRIBUTE BAND a few months ago. It has been pretty cool, but we still need a lead player for trumpet and a bari sax. It seems no trumpet player wants to show up and prove it! I get a lot of emails, but in the end, nobody will show up and kick ass!

Please reply to this post if you like or love Maynard, have serious balls, and want to have some fun. We have a rehearsal tomorrow night, Monday December 8, 2008 in Walnut Creek, CA .
    Thank you.

I think it will be difficult to get someone to commit to a project like that just for fun. If someone has the chops to front a Maynard Tribute band, then they're likely someone who already gets paid to play. Send us a link if you guys record any of your rehearsals/jobs...

I think you guys read something into my post that isn't there:
This is not a "just for fun" or reading type band. It is a band with serious players including several North Texas Alumni and one Maynard Ferguson Alumni. We have gigs lined up for next year starting in the spring and that is why I am tightening things up now.

Actually we read what just was in your initial post (if you like or love Maynard, have serious balls, and want to have some fun). The "something" that wasn't there was the detail you just provided! :-)

Wow, something is missing in translation. Bad day? No need to be rude about it all. I'm not a "wanna-be high note artist who could never quite get it". You'll hear me sooner or later. Peace.

    Have a nice day.

I think that yourbrassinstructor has the list of qualified players. The "more outstanding" alumni are well known. Maybe that would be a better place to start? They will demand money up front however.

I think it is cool that the rest of us get to "consider" trying out though. I play some lead, but I like Maynard so much that I will not audition!
