I'll admit it, I like to work my practice. This admission feels like being in a confessional, but the truth is that, while I like to perform, there is something satisfying about just practicing an etude. The progress is owned, it is intense, and there is no counting of rests or waiting for an entrance. What do you think?

I would think you'd have to like it somewhat--otherwise, why keep doing it??

I agree with bachfella. The fact that you're on TrumpetMaster where you'll receive tips and help with your trumpet playing, it already says you've put in some time to play.
I can also agree with your sentiments- some people just lack the motivation to practice everyday.
It's something you must find daily though if you wish to continue.
When I was younger, I enjoyed my practice and I had time to do it. Now, I have so many teaching responsibilities that I am too lazy to practice when I do have time.

No I have to practice, if I go more than a couple of days without I get crotchety, snappy, irritable and fidgety. The problem is I get the same if i don't have a brush in my hand for a couple of days.

But if he gets it in at everyday... he only remains snappy... as in "snappy dresser"

Practice makes perfect; but nobody's perfect. So why practice?

Answer: To always try to achieve perfection... and once we feel we are there, we realize that there is more... so we keep on practicing to get to that level... and once we are there, we realize that there is more... so we strive to get to that level...

Sometimes I like to practice, and I get a lot of enjoyment/satisfaction out of it, and sometimes I just do it because I need to.

The older I get the less I like to practice charts I already know.

I'd rather just "free jam" or play along with something on the radio.
