DOH! Someone forgot to renew their domain name!
So, grab it!
There's a grace period. No grabbage allowed yet!
When they expire a domain goes into a "redemption" status. They original owner just needs to pay his fee, and sometimes a penalty (depending on registrar) and everything will be fine. It can stay in redemption for weeks. If he does nothing with it, then the registrar will put the name up for sale in an expired domain name auction. If the site had any kind of traffic at all then a domain speculator will buy it and put up a ton of revenue generating ads. If the site makes $20 a year in ad revenue then they have made a profit. If you have 10,000 sites making $50 a year in ad revenue then you are banking 500k without burning a metric ton of calories.
i may have posted the last thread before it expired
i posted then went back to check it about a minute later and boom! it was all gone
Quite a surprise!
I contacted him last week, he was not aware but said he would take care of it....
That would have been totally hilarious to grab it then redirect it here...
No, that would not have been hilarious. There is enough room on the planet for the two different styles of internet forums.
