    Electrical tape

Works great when your 3rd valve slide water key falls off in your hand 5 minutes before a show......put a roll of that in my case....Check...

Chewing gum works too as does a cork from a good bottle of wine or a pencil eraser (we ALL have pencils in our cases!)

I like the wine cork idea Rowuk, I think I should carry a good bottle of Merlot at all times just for that reason !!

don't tell me -- I am the only trumpet player who had consistently carried "wide" rubber bands in my case for 30+ years, just for that reason -- although, it has yet to happen to me.. I am not sure the Merlot will fit in most of my cases --- that must be what they make "gig" bags for. ROFL ROFL ROFL

I try not to play in places where a bottle of wine is not far away. I dont drink but if my audience does I instantly become a better trumpet player. Best wishes.

A happy audience is a good audience. Electrical tape is also good when your braces comes loose and your bell tries to fall off.

I've used duct tape when playing on a Mardi Gras float - is there anything duct tape can't fix? Well, at least temporarily!

Kingtrumpet I use a triple gig bag, I’ve lost stuff in that bag, I think I can fit 4 or 5 bottles in there, and still have room for two horns : )

Duct tape will keep a mouthpiece on the leadpipe if they don't fit otherwise, make the beat up case stay shut and prevent the trumpet stand from getting knocked over (if you duct tape it to the floor). One of humankind's best inventions.

Duct tape doesn't work that well on rugs or grass ... but neither does a trumpet stand. I've set up an orchestra on grass (commencement held in the football stadium) where we pounded in bent sections of rebar just to support the music stands. I think the drummer used some on his rig also. I have seen a trumpeter with a 1 foot square board to which he attached 2 three legged trumpet stands with fence staples. There are just circumstantial situations where you must improvise your set-up. Just don't believe there are many venues as would take kindly to nails being driven into their floor.
