    Hey Manny,

Don't get me wrong, I love the music and the "Ring".
Playing third trumpet in Das Rheingold is, unfortunately, waiting a lot (and I mean a lot!!!).
    Did the Götterdämmerung in jan/feb.
I loved playing that one! First Wagner opera I played.

Last thursday we had the première. Halfway, just before the third scene, we had to stop because of a technical problem on stage.
Instead of finishing in two and a half hours and walking out there by 10.30, we had a one hour delay and finished around 11.30.
Tonight we're playing it again (still seven to go).

So, not a Wagner freak, but I like it a lot. Playing those soft passages on cardboard lips can be a bit frustrating however.
Pffaa... know what I mean? The pit here is terrible for the embouchure.
Don't know why..maybe it's due to the dry air.
    Stiffens up the lips.
