famous trumpet players ?

    Ditto when it comes to Herb Albert. I asked for his collection for my birthday. I relived my youth and loved every minute of it. I still love the way he played.

    I went to a transcriptions website based on another TM thread. If you look at the transcriptions of his solos compared to our bebop heros who get way more "sizzle" credit, you will see they would be hard pressed to keep up. That is my simple opinion. Harry James is one of my heros.

    When I was a teenager, my heroes were Harry James, Doc and Maynard. we used to call Herb Alpert "Herb the Nerd" especially after I saw Harry play a Taste of Honey.
