Figuring out music by ear

    Correct.

    On a conventional 12-note chromatic scale (whether it's on the trumpet or piano), there are no semitone notes between E and F, nor between B and C. Those intervals are only half-steps (semitones).

    Depending upon the key you're playing in, accidentals will occasionally designate E# = F or B# = C (as well as Fb = E and Cb = B). However, one full step interval up from an E is an F#, and one full step interval up from B is a C#.

    thanks for the help, nd i actually converted the notes to piano right away just so i could work at twelve o'clock in the morning without waking my house up
