Flugelhorn hook re-soldering?

    Electricians use solder wicking to suck off excess solder. If you unsolder the part that is still soldered on, you can use wicking to suck the solder off without smearing it. If it was me I'd leave the solder on there. When you get the hook back you would want to sand the solder until the dull coating comes off and it is shiny solder. Do the same to the finger hook. Put a LITTLE BIT of acid flux on the hook, bind it to the bell in the same place as it was, and use the solder that is already there to solder it back. Makes for a clean job.

    Always wipe your solder in to the joint when you can so it doesn't stain the brass around it.

    Hi! That would be awesome! I tried to attach the parts with epoxy, but doesn't seem like a good solution.

    I already unsolded the part, so I could send it to you as a letter.

    So I should leave this as it is right now?

    Be careful soldering parts that have been epoxied. Be 100% sure all the epoxy is cleaned off before heating the part with a torch. Many epoxies and glues emit toxic fumes when burned, as they were never intended to withstand high temps.
