    Greetings,
I am a new member, have been playing trumpet and flute
for a number of years, and now in retirement I have purchased a
Flugelhorn. I am not having any problems with the change from trumpet
except the left hand position,is there a correct position regarding the grip,
and the use of the third valve lever.Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards John Codd.

I use my pinky finger and the finger beside it to squeeze the 3rd valve trigger.

Hey John!!! It's good to have you on board at TM!!! I've played trumpet/flugel for quite a few years and I can honestly say there is no standard left hand position. It's whatever feel comfortable and works the best for you. For me personally, I use a two up/ two down approach on my Yami Bobby Shew Flugel so I can use the trigger. Hope that helps.

Many thanks for help with left hand position,I
did wonder if there was a recognised grip, but
the most comfortable one makes sense, having a third valve lever
instead of a ring as per trumpet, did throw me for a while,
but am getting used to it.Love the Flugelhorn!
    regards John Codd
