Like pedal tones, there are various ways to free buzz. Reinhardt has one way which I haven't tried but doesn't look that tireing. Pops has a different approach which also doesn't look strenuous. Callet teached "spit buzzing" which is yet another form of free buzzing. Caruso used it for therapeutic value. Pocius uses it for beginners. Its really difficult to make generalizations about free buzzing. Pragmatism is the way to go.

Then there is another saying: "Buzz off". I'm with Rowuk on this one.

If you truly want to get an embouchure boost from buzzing into your mouthpiece, I have found that wrapping a cloth towel at around the bore and controlling the resistance to your desired tension, you will increase endurance. This comment will now be followed by one from Rowuk, describing the 8 ft hose technique, demonstrating the observable, that history repeats itself.

Too bad they don't sell paragoric over the counter any more. Does anyone out there remember that stuff... Pure opium... pure opium. I had a lot of stomach complaints as a kid. My mommy was my supplier. "...and I saw some crazy things before I came to, now; do you think I was crazy? I might of been only 3, but I... was... swinging"
