Oi! I'm picking up trumpet, as I wish to be a corps one day but I'm afraid it will screw up my sax embouchere. I have a ton of auditions this year on sax and don't want to mess up my lips.

Would I have better luck with something like Baritone or Trombone? Or tuba even (the easiest brass for me). Or should I just try percussion?

No problems at all. They are significantly different enough that it's not an issue. I played trumpet, tenor sax, alto sax, and soprano sax in high school, WITH BRACES... No problems.

Just a thought, but trumpet playing requires regular practice to keep up the embouchure. Lower brass requires practice also but is much more forgiving in terms of endurance, so perhaps something like trombone or Euph/ baritone would be better as a second instrument.

I don't know how I didn't notice that, or why it turned up. Oops!

I'm just starting to play trumpet, but I have played alto sax for a few years. I only took delivery of my trumpet on 11th of this month, so I really am a complete beginner. So far I have been practicing trumpet for and hour in the morning, playing the sax in the afternoon then another hour on trumpet in the evening, and it seems to be working out OK. But I guess it is just to early to know if there are any long term effects.
