    Hey all,

I was thinking of doing a trumpet feature out front of my band. Nothing toooo technical (no carnival pieces). We are more commercial-oriented (Military Band).

Can anyone give suggestions on fun, jazzy, (maybe 70s in style). Like a Mangione tune or a samba or anything. It has to be flashy. I have the music for "Land of Make Believe" with Chuck's transcribed solo in it. Something like that.

Also, if there is a youtube video, or online recording of your suggestions, that would help out a lot

    Thanks all
    Eric

I'm not sure how many people will appreciate yet alone know Chuck Mangione.

How about a simpler rendition of Gonna Fly Now? Everyone knows the tune, and you won't really have to belt out things in the register MF does to make it exciting. Heck you can even do a little Rocky action...when the song ends hoist your trumpet up, and do a little dance like Rocky does when he gets to the top of the stairs!

How about a Rocky Medley, with Gonna Fly Now and Rocky Top. You can introduce it as a Rocky medley, and people all over the place get rowdy when they hear Rocky Top. Just a thought
