    Screamer,

When you get your braces taken off it will be different, of course. Not only will you be free of the braces but your teeth will be straighter. Tune in to what a proper trumpet sound should be so that you don't fall prey to too much physical stuff. May I suggest that you start by playing very full, solid notes in the lower register?

If you're not vigilant, you'll get wrapped up in how different it feels and get off track as to how it sounds. For several days before you get them taken off do a lot of listening to your favorites players and the tunes you like to hear with a lot of trumpet. Look forward to your liberation and sing on the horn!

Hi, this is my first post here but i thought i'd share my experience. when i got my braces off it was def. different. i just kept practicing because i had a district band audition coming up, and my playing very quickly improved far beyond what it was with the braces. everything was a lot easier without them. just keep at it and you should be fine.

Indeed, go the "how it sounds" route!

If you can peg your tuner over four ocatves next time you tune, add your own name to the list.

To "peg a tuner" means being able to play in tune, chump. Listen to Chase, and add him to your list.
