Getting Students to Listen!

    I didn't that about Trombone Shorty. I do like to hear him play though. Maybe he will make it popular to play and listen to brass instruments again!

    Also, ditch Maynard. He is good at his high notes but even he has said to not play with his tone.

    Bite your tounge Al. He may have said this, but let me be clear from my perspective:

    There is nothing wrong with Maynard's tone.

    What about turning kids OFF by showing them the greats? Like I imagine a kid starting out, listening to Arturo or Wynton and saying, forget it, I'll never be that good, why try.

    (Oh, and bite your tongue again...Maynards just being humble. His tone at any spot in the range is awesome.)

    Those kids would have never made it anyway. There are folks that get inspired and folks that give up. I can't control the character of a person. I can try to get them to display the best parts of their character. It's up to them.
